OH….MY….GOD…its 2017! I know everyone always gushes about how fast the year flew by but it’s so true! The older I get, the more I realize how easy it is for life to pass us by and what is really important.
I know its super corny but truly, it didn’t hit me just how lucky I am to be able to do everything I get to do I my life, until the end of this year.
Since I was in Orlando for NYE I didn’t get to close out 2016 in the traditional corny, reflective way, so to close out 2016 and to recap my year, I’m going to share with you my top 10 moments:
- Dream Wedding (July 2016):
This past July, Erick and I got to live out our dream wedding. It’s a super long story but it has been YEARS in the works and getting married by the church meant something special for us both. It rained the day of our wedding and although there were some moments of chaos, dancing in his arms was the happiest moment of my life. (Photo by: Tiffany Rose Studios in Minnesota).
- Ronald Peña (August 2016):
This year, our family grew with one more addition. A furrier addition, but a great one. Shortly after coming back from our Myrtle Beach trip Erick decided he wanted a dog. So he went and got one. At first I was hesitant because Ronny came from a shelter and I had all these misconceptions about what if he’s aggressive or damaged, but I swear to you that dog has filled the whole in my heart, I never knew I had. He is truly the kindest, sweetest, and most loving dog I have ever encountered and I can’t picture my life without him.
- Casa Peña (September 2016):
This year we finally got our own place. When it comes to my husband and our lives, I, for the most part keep that private so you wouldn’t know that up until this year we had always lived with someone. Either my parents, my husband’s mother but for the last 2 years his little brother was living with us too. I cannot tell you how amazing it feels now to have our own place. So much more room, more privacy, and just peacefulness when we come home. Although we had to shell out a pretty penny to fill our house how we wanted, I LOVE our place.
- My Beauty Room (September 2016):
In addition to finally having our own place, I now have my own room for my closet, makeup, and filming! This has been something I have wanted forever and it truly makes filming so much easier since I can just leave my stuff out and not have to worry about how we are gonna sleep on the bed or get our clothes. Not to mention, I know exactly where all my makeup stuff is. I’m still trying to decorate it how I want and there a few furniture pieces missing, but I truly can’t complain.
- Myrtle Beach (July 2016):
Shortly after our dream wedding in July, Erick and I decided to take the “Honeymoon we never had” trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. Trust me, it doesn’t sound all that incredible but it really was. There was so much to do there, we got to lay on the beach, and we spent a wonderful 5 days distressing and relaxing.
6. Generation Beauty Los Angeles (January 2016):
What’s cooler than going to Gen Beauty for free? Going with your best friend. I was super fortunate to be able to take a trip to LA again in later January for Generation Beauty by Ipsy. It was my first time at Gen Beauty so I didn’t know what to expect but luckily my girl @sambolynne was right there with me. If you are going to Gen Beauty or want to know more about it, read my article HERE.
- IMATS Los Angeles (January 2016):
I knew 2016 was going to be a fantastic year because it started out with a girls trip with my friend @beautyybytaylorg to IMATS LA. Since I started watching YouTube then actually doing YouTube I had prayed to the makeup god to give me the chance to go and finally I was able to! If you are going to IMATS or want to know more about IMATS LA click HERE to read my article.
- The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios (December 2016):
So even though this literally just happened, and even though its probably the nerdiest thing ever, you guys have no idea how excited and happy I was to finally be able to see the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Growing up like most, I of course read the Harry Potter series but when the movies came out I was OBSESSED. I don’t know why but it just struck something with me so being able to geek it up to the extreme with all the other #pottheads at Hogwarts was truly magical.
- Sigma Beauty Affiliation (November 2016):
Me?! A Sigma Beauty Affiliate?! What?! Yeah this happened in 2016. When I first started watching YouTube and then started out my own channel Sigma Beauty was already huge. Obviously as the years progressed they got even bigger, so I honestly did not think I was going to get this affiliation. I mean some of their affiliates are Desi Perkins and Jaclyn Hill for crying out loud! No way I am even within 5,000 ft of their level, but it happened. I am truly grateful to be a part of a company I back 1,000% and that Sigma Beauty is willing to give little ole me, a shot.
- THATANDREALIFE.com (October 2016):
Lastly, of course, the launch of my own website. So if you’re an OG follower/subscriber you’ll know that I did have a blog before but it was a free one so nothing was owned by me. Nor was it very professional or secure. I knew I wanted to have my own website where I write and just keep you guys updated on my life, but even blogging on a free site with simple to use tools was difficult so I know my own website was gonna be a crap ton of work. Finally this came true after many sleepless nights and hours on the computer. Although its not perfect, its definitely a step in the right direction.
I am very lucky to say that I have reached a point in my life where I am very happy with what I have and who I am. 2016 was an incredible year for me, but now it’s time to push for the unknown and go even further in 2017. Stay tuned because BIG things are going to happen in 2017!
