Hi Beauty Babes! I stopped by Ulta a couple days ago because I needed to find a replacement for my beloved NYC liquid liner, which most recently was discontinued. It always happens that I go into Ulta or Sephora for one thing, and I end up walking out with more than I needed (problems, I know), and since I know you are just as nosy as I am when it comes to what makeup purchases we make, I thought I would share what I got.
Essence Eyeliner Brush: Every single time I hear a beauty blogger talk about Essence Cosmetics, they never fail to mention how bomb this brush is and how great it is for under $5. You all know that I am weak, and if more than one person talks about it, I feel the urge to suddenly buy it as well…so I did, even though I certainly didn’t need it.
Review: Happy to say, it is fantastic! The bristles are dense and compact enough to give you a nice defined line and not move the product around and for under $5, yes!
Essence Satin Touch Blush: These were in the new section of the store and I had tried a highlighter from essence before that I really liked, so I just decided to pick it up on a whim.
Review: Another good Essence Cosmetics find! The formula itself is very satiny/silky to the touch. It doesn’t kick back any powder at all, it’s very pigmented switched and when it goes on the skin, the plumy rose shade is gorgeous too.
NYX Nude Beige Lip Liner: This YouTube made me do it purchase goes to Amanda Ensing. She had raved about it in last month’s favorites video and convinced me that I needed.
Review: I’ve always liked NYX’s lip pencils so I knew the formula was going to be good but the shade turned out nice as well. It’s a perfect neutral beige shade that can go with many lipsticks so it’s super versatile and I love that the shade isn’t as dark as like a brownish nude but also not as light as like a true beige would be. Perfect in between.
NYX Matte Liquid Liner: Pretty much the main reason why I went into Ulta. I had tried this liner before in the past but stopped using it because I had been in a heavy love affair with the NYC liquid liner, but now that that liner is being discounted I needed to find and alternative quick.
Review: As I remembered, it’s amazing and no wonder its so many peoples’ holy grail. The wand is longer than other eyeliners I have tried, but I think that’s what makes it easier to control. The brush tip itself is flexible enough to move and glide product nicely, but also stiff enough for it to be precise. If you are in the same boat as me and need a replacement for the NYXX liquid liner, I would totally recommend this one.
NYX Access Flawless Finish Sponge: Lately I’ve been on a sponge kick. Meaning, that I have been purchasing a lot of face sponges recently, so when I saw NYX came out with one, I definitely had to pick it up and try it out.
Review: Overall I have to say it’s just Meh! Like the sponge itself is not as squishy as other sponges I have tried or the original beauty blender, but it’s also not hard enough that it’s completely impossible to get an even application. It applies product fine but perhaps because of the lack of bounciness, it takes me longer to finish my foundation application. Not my favorite.
Makeup Revolution Matte Lip Kit: If this you see this product and instantly think Kylie Jenner Lip Kit Duper, you and I need to be friends. I first saw this online and was going to order it but I didn’t want to pay the shipping charge, so I waited. I saw it in store and thankfully the shade I wanted was in stock. It comes with both a lip pencil and liquid lipstick.
Review: Sadly, this product was a disappointment. Let me start off by saying that the lip pencils that come in this kit are AMAZING! They literally feel like the Huda Beauty Contour Lip Pencils, but I don’t think you can buy them individually so that’s disappointing. What’s even more disappointing is the liquid lipstick itself. Although the shade is gorgeous, it’s everything you don’t want in liquid lipstick. It feathers, its tacky and sticky when you put your lips together, it accentuates every single line and wrinkle on your lips, it is very drying, and when it comes off, it crumbles off. Definitely do NOT recommend.
